So BBC and Al Jazeera (by way of Google) have now, finally, reported on the fighting in the east. The Tamil Tigers killed seven soldiers, six in an ambush in Yala and one with a landmine when trying to retrieve the bodies. Three soldiers were injured in the landmine incident.

In other war news, four activists just quit a government advisory panel on human rights. Their reason is that the panel is clearly not doing any good since the human rights problem here has escalated since the panel's creation.
