Sri Lanka made number 20 on Foreign Policy's "Failed State Index." How sad.
The government has announced they have killed 2,000 Tigers in the last two years and that the LTTE no longer has "the same strength and willpower to fight." Mm hmm, sure. Sri Lanka continues to have the highest inflation rate in Asia (yet no pay raises in sight). The Central Bank says that this will end in August due to better monetary policies. Mm hmm, sure. I like that the date they give is right after I leave. Nice.
